We just got an ac for the window as it s freaking hot without one and want to know how we can get it safely installed without screwing it into the frame.

So basically you are saying that a central air unit cycling on and off at 4500 watts for 24 hours is going to use more power than two window units drawing 1000 watts cycling on and off for 8 hours or so.
Put in a mid size window ac say 7000btu and then get a nice fan to blow that air where you need it.

Air conditioners just aren t built like they used to be.
I ve used window units in more side opening windows than up and down ones just due to bad luck with houses.
It seems like if i install the unit it will be resting a lot of weight on that one small strip in front which probably isn t a great idea.

That being said if window units are not an option there are better units than others in the room air conditioner world.
It gets quite humid and sometimes really hot on the east coast during the summer.

Without knowing measurements my advice is one high btu window unit if the rooms connect or 2 smaller window units for each room and keep the thermostats realistic.
Looking for a high quality air conditioner that hopefully will last for a longer amount of time than a few years.
Versus a true portable air conditioner two hose unit or units with a condenser.
Also dont knock the power of a fan.
Then yes you can run it non stop for the daylight hours every day.
